This summer I quietly participated in the Burlington Art Market downtown on a handful of Saturdays. It's been a while since I've publicly shown and interacted with people while they engage with my little creations, and I've always been deeply inspired by the way people touch and react to each piece. There was one young woman in particular who immediately grasped what I was trying to accomplish, and she enthusiastically put it to words. I'll paraphrase -
"I feel like I could walk into a museum with a section dedicated ancient Sumaria, and come across these rings. But at the same time, they feel sooo modern."
It's always a humbling joy to meet someone who has never seen your work before, and they just immediately get it. It ways that are easy to forget, because I'm stuck in designer-tunnel-vision. So it was a lovely reminder, hoe much joy a little heriloom can bring to a prospective collector.
I currently have about 7 rings, and 3 necklaces finished; whose center stones are all Sapphires and Zircons of various hues. But, if possible I want to squeeze in a few more items made with these luscious Vietnames Spinels I just got in.
Everything has been made in solid and recycled 14k yellow or white gold; and every one-of-a-kind ring comes with a FREE sizing. Everything is priced very reasonably, as I was lucky enough to purchase the gold for this collection before the most recent massive jumps.
For the past few months I've been crafting a very special release. My new Mezzanine style, which feels like such a fundamental and necessary breakthrough inside of my Etruscan Collection, has become my newest obsession.
The drop features some really special gemstones that really speak to my heart and very picky color pallet. They're all of modest size (most are under 1ct), and very reasonably priced for the labor that goes into each piece. One of the things I really love about the Mezzanine setting is that it gives a smaller stone a lot of OOmph. It amplifies their presence... but not in a distracting way.
